Mayoral offices still lacking in female representation

While the amount of women represented in government has grown, women are still lagging in chief executive positions such as mayor. While women have higher rates of mayorship in small cities, only Houston has a female mayor out of the nation's 10 largest cities. While some argue that voters still do not see women in chief positions, others argue that enough women are not running. Despite notable losses this year in Los Angeles and New York, many are optimistic that women will continue to break through barriers to be elected.
