Historic first for New York possible in election of 3 female mayors in major cities

Three of New York's six largest cities could have female mayors in the upcoming election. Stephanie Miner became Syracuse's first female mayor four years ago, and Lovely Warren and Kathy Sheehan are seeking Democratic victories in Rochester and Albany, respectively. New York has historically stood "among the middle of the pack when it comes to women holding elected office," but upcoming elections could be a historic turn for the state. Warren's win would make her the first female mayor in the locality. All three women have been endorsed by the political action commitee Emily's List.
