Pontiac, Michigan elects first female mayor

Deirdre Waterman defeated incumbent Leon Jukowski with support of 68% of voters, becoming the city's first female mayor. Following a "troubled period," Waterman hopes for positive change in the city. About 13% of registered voters cast a ballot, and several new members were elected to the city council amongst incumbents.
