Indiana elections could be landmark year for women

Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Gary, Indiana could all elect their first female mayors in November. With the percentage of female mayors at 9%, lower than the national average, Indiana has been slow to break the "political glass ceiling." The number of female candidates is up from previous years, and candidates are optimistic that the opinion towards women in positions of leadership is shifting. The races in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne are expected to be close, while Former Indiana Attorney General Karen Freeman-Wilson is expected to win easily in Gary.
